Ah, kids will be kids.

This amusing story showed up in the WaPo today.

  1. Great story. Unfortunately the Wapo went and blew it with "sophisticated language skills". Apes can learn complex patterns of actions (signs, pushing buttons, whatever) to evoke responses in humans, but that differs only in degree from cats who meow when they want to be fed. No ape has ever expressed an opinion on anything, a matter which any two-year old human being can manage fine.
